Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth are the thirds molars located in each quadrant of the mouth. When there is adequate room in the jaw for these teeth to erupt normally, they may be beneficial in chewing. However, in most cases, there is lack of space in the jaw for these wisdom teeth to erupt normally. They end up either partially erupted, misaligned, or completely impacted in the bone. When they are partially erupted or misaligned in the mouth, they pose a high risk of contributing to periodontitis, endangering the health of the adjacent teeth. In these situations, we recommend extraction.

Crown Lengthening

Crown lengthening is a term that refers to the slight removal of gum and bony tissue around several teeth. This procedure is recommended when the decay is too deep into the gum tissue and too close to the underlying bone. To properly restore a tooth and avoid periodontal issues in the future, there needs to be approximately 3mm of distance between the bone and the margin of the filling or crown (known as the Biological Width). When this Biological Width is violated, Crown lengthening is recommended.
