In 2001 they started Signature Smiles, now a leading Snohomish County dentist office, to embody their passion for dentistry and Pacific Northwest living. They dreamt of a place where patients would feel more like club members, where the Signature Smiles team is a spirit, where professional growth is nurtured, and where exceptional care is the norm. After more than 9 spectacular years, they are proud to say that they are living the best dream imaginable.

Philosophy

Dr. Dowd and Dr. Wu believe in treating each patient as an individual, helping each person to reach their personal best. But there is one thing which remains constant with each patient we treat… we recommend treatment as though that person is a member of our family. And guess what, they are a member of our Signature Smiles family of patients.

The Signature Experience

Dr. Dowd and Dr. Wu both had moments of Clarity roughly around the same time in the year 2000. After having less than appealing positions as associates in other offices, they compared experiences with each other, and were appalled by the deterioration of the health care system. They discovered that there was a lost of human touch, not enough time allowed with patients, quality of care was strained, office support was hostile, and the patients were unhappy.

After vowing to make a difference and to practice Dentistry they felt was right, they opened Signature Smiles in 2001. It quickly became a dentist the residents of King and Snohomish County, WA could trust, rely on and actually enjoy going to. It was time to bring the Human Element back into the new millennium. In many ways the Signature Smiles Experience is a revisit to country style medicine, where the pace is slower, friendly and open. It's like a fine stew mom used to make; there's personality, flavor, caring attention and warmth. So, don't expect fancy lip service and "McDonalds drive through" speed. The Signature Smiles Experience is about you; it's about taking the time. That's why we've become one of the leading Snohomish County area dentist offices in such a short time.

Doctors

Dr Dowd

Dr. Dowd has been in the dental field for over 21 years. While working as a dental assistant during college to help pay for expenses, she discovered that dentistry was an exciting and challenging profession. After completing her doctorate degree at the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, Dr. Dowd then opted to train with the latest dental technology at the Veterans’ Administration Medical Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina; earning her General Practice Residency Certificate. Also a Graduate of the prestigious and intense Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, she focuses on the most recent state of the art innovations. Dr. Dowd enjoys staying abreast of the latest developments in dental technology, naturopathic influences in dentistry, and prevention by reading professional journals and attending continuing education courses. Dr. Dowd enjoys community involvement, gives presentations at local schools and mentors young women interested in a dental career. Dr. Dowd is also focused on creating a more environmentally friendly dental practice and is proud to have lead Signature Smiles to 5 Star Envirostar Status and 100% Green Power Leadership partner with PG & E.

Dr Wu

A graduate of the early acceptance program, Dr. Wu earned his doctorate degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then completed an intensive two-year post-doctorate residency program focusing on oral medicine and medically compromised patients. This training sets Dr. Wu apart from his peers. He has advanced oral medicine exposure, surgical training, and experience managing patients with complex medical concerns. This enables him to safely treat patients with histories of cancer, hypertension, heart disease, blood disorders, chemo-therapy and radiation treatment to create the best outcome for his patient. A Graduate of the prestigious and intense Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, he is fully versed in cosmetic treatment and reconstructive dentistry. Utilizing noninvasive modalities to improve oral health, Dr. Wu has a strong preventative focus. He also participates in the Disabled Dental Services Program, giving back to the local community by providing much needed dental treatment to those less fortunate. Globally, Dr. Wu is active in supporting world disaster relief through the International Red Cross and other international relief programs.

Our Family

Dr. Wu and Dr. Dowd met during their post-graduate residency training. They discovered a mutual passion for dentistry, life, family, travel and outdoor adventures. They love the Pacific Northwest, especially Seattle. Together they chose to make Seattle their home and they continue fall more deeply in love with the Pacific Northwest, the longer they are here.

The new Seattleites were married and decided to follow their dream of working together and starting a family. They now have 2.5 children: Bunny (their short-legged Jack Russell), Zoey and Zachary.

The Wu's love spending time with their family or engaged in community activities enjoying all that this area has to offer.

Christine is the warm face that greets patients at the front door. Ensuring that their experience is exceptional, she strongly advocates for the Signature Smile Experience. Encouraging patient feedback, she aims to help the dental team better serve our community of patients. Christine enjoys spending time with her family and all of her loving pets.

Denise

Denise is a meticulous hygienist who is focused on educating her patients. As a partner in oral health, she gently motivates patients to help them reach their oral health goals. She is dedicated to her profession and passionate about treating periodontal disease. Denise enjoys traveling with her husband.

Melanie

Melanie is an outstanding dental assistant who joined the Signature Smiles team over four years ago and hasn't looked back. Melanie pushes herself to continually learn the intricacies of dentistry. While helping to create an outstanding experience, she is also the clock that keeps Signature Smiles and patients running on time. She loves animals and enjoys camping with her husband.

Annissa

We are blessed with another outstanding dental assistant. A natural in the dental office; Annissa is personable, friendly and children just love her. She cares deeply about the patient experience and strives to deliver great service every time. During her free time, Annissa enjoys listening to music from her expansive music collection and spending time with her husband.
